Perpetuity
for string ensemble and electronics
2008
Perpetuity was written for Scottish Ensemble as a part of SPNMs season of events 2008/09. The piece is a part of a cycle Presence that comprises of pieces that take its aesthetic reference to Bergmans movies by building emotional tension with very simple, limited material.
Computer forms an alienated dimension complementing the timbre of string ensemble. At the times it is also a contrasted reverberation of rich frequencies of the instruments. The static character is deceiving - the piece is moving forward to the higher emotional state. Its like stepping into the river that can never be the same, although seems so much alike.
